Standing Too Close - The Ghost of You

Why do I get these images in my head,

Of places I’ve never been,

Experiences I’ve never had,

And yearn for them as if they were from yesterday?

Or somewhere back when I was a young girl,

Riding in the backseat with my boyfriend,

Going to the beach,

To get drunk on love and too much Brandy.

Why do I get these feelings,

Of times long ago,

And think that you should be here now to experience them,

instead of where you are?

Because where you are, is nowhere I can see.

You’re way too far away from me.

But maybe you are close,

So close that I’m blind, my vision blurred by tears,

Instead of by the fact,

I’m merely standing too close to see.
